Damian & Ed - day 3 - return to Lake Louise

Damian posing in the fog
We awoke on Wednesday morning to a cool damp stillness, the birds were quiet and the lake shore was shrouded in fog and low cloud. We parted company with Dave and headed out towards Lake Louise. It is a drive of around four hours depending on traffic and road works. It is said about western Canada that we have only two seasons - winter and road works - patience is often required when driving at this time of year.
We planned a couple of stops along the way to break up the journey. the first stop was Three Valley Gap ghost town and later we stopped at Rogers Pass interpretive centre for a picnic.
The Ghost Town was an old mining village but is now a hotel and open air museum with a collection of old buildings, railway memorabilia and rolling stock, old vehicles and other curios.

We arrived at the camping area in the early afternoon and registered for our site. We spent the remainder of the afternoon setting up our tent, splitting logs for kindling and getting dinner prepared. After dinner we wandered around and scoped out the amenities and took a good long hot shower. On the return to our tent we stopped by the amphitheater and listened to a presentation by Parks Canada staff about the various wild life around us and how to stay safe.
We were soon in our tent and in our sleeping bags and just as quickly in a deep slumber. In just a few days we have moved away from living by the clock and now are rising at dawn and going to sleep at sunset - very pleasant.
More news will follow later.
